Bali is very much a cash economy, and ATMs in Amed are accessible.

Although half of more of the business in Amed now take card, and it is possible to avoid using cash in Amed, its not ideal or the cheapest. Most locals still prefer cash though, and particular places that offer the best deals.

The ATM in small Bali towns are not always the most reliable, but Amed does pretty well. Usually, if its down its because they have run out of cash, but most of the time I need it, it is up and running.

Stay safe with ATMs in Amed

I’ve had my card skimmed once in the 5 years I’ve been coming to Amed. The bank caught it, before I lost any funds. Its hard ot say where / how it happened. Maybe an ATM or maybe paying by card.

I now have different cards I use for bank withdrawl and making purchases, so if I get skimmed from a purchase I can still get cash.
